Black Forest Oatmeal Cookies

Bake Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 3 dozen

Ingredients:

1 cup Crisco® Butter Shortening
or 1 stick Crisco® Butter Shortening Sticks
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsps. vanilla extract
1 2/3 cups Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3 cups quick oats (not instant or old fashioned)
1 baking bar (6 ounces) white chocolate, coarsely chopped
3 baking bars (2 ounces each) semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup sliced almonds
3/4 cup coarsely chopped dried cherries

Preparation Directions:

1. Heat oven to 375°F.

2. Combine all-vegetable shortening, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs and vanilla extract; beat at medium speed until well blended.

3. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder; add to all-vegetable shortening mixture at low speed until well blended. Stir in, one at a time, oats, white chocolate, semisweet chocolate, cherries and nuts with spoon.

4. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.

5. Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until set. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheets; transfer to cooling rack to cool completely.
