1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110F-115F)
1/2 cup warm milk (110F-115F)
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening, softened or 1/4 stick Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening Sticks, softened
2 eggs
2 1/2 to 3 cups Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour, divided
Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
In a small mixing bowl dissolve yeast in warm water; let stand 5 minutes. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat together the milk, sugar, salt, shortening and eggs. Add the yeast mixture; beat thoroughly. Add 2 1/2 cups flour; beat well. Turn dough out onto a well-floured board; knead about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic, adding only enough flour to make dough easy to handle. Shape dough into ball. Spray a large bowl with no stick cooking spray; place dough in prepared bowl. Turn dough over. Cover: let rise in warm place until doubled, about 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Punch down dough. Shape as directed in recipe.
