Peanut Cream Surprise Pie

Yield: Makes 8-10 servings

Ingredients:

CRUST
9-inch single Classic Crisco Pie Crust

CHOCOLATE LAYER
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
2 tbsps. Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening
or 2 tbsps. Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening Sticks

FILLING
2-1/2 cups milk
1 cup peanut butter chips
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup Pillsbury BEST¨ All Purpose Flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3 egg yolks, beaten
3 tbsps. unsalted butter or margarine
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup chopped peanuts

TOPPING
1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1-1/2 tsps. Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening

Preparation Directions:

1. HEAT oven to 425°F. Prepare recipe for single crust pie. Roll out pastry. Place in 9-inch pie plate. Press to fit without stretching dough. Flute edges. Thoroughly prick bottom and sides with fork to prevent shrinking. Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool.

2. For chocolate layer: COMBINE 1 cup chocolate chips and shortening in microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on MEDIUM 2 to 3 minutes or until melted, sitrring after each minute. Stir until smooth. Pour over bottom of cooled baked pie crust.

3. For filling: COMBINE milk, peanut butter chips, brown sugar, flour and salt in medium saucepan. Cook and stir 2 minutes or until hot. Remove from heat. Pour 1 cup hot filling slowly into egg yolks, stirring constantly. Return to saucepan. Cook and stir 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla until butter melts. Pour over chocolate layer in pie crust. Sprinkle with nuts.

4. For topping: COMBINE chocolate chips and shortening in microwave-safe cup. Microwave on MEDIUM 1 to 2 minutes or until melted, stirring after each minute. Stir until smooth. Drizzle over nuts. Cover. Refrigerate until set.
