Ham and Asparagus Strata

Yield: Makes 6-8 servings

Ingredients:

Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
1/2 Crisco® Butter Shortening Sticks, or 1/2 cup Crisco® Butter Flavor shortening, melted
10 slices white bread
1 pound ham, cubed
8 eggs, beaten
3 cups whole milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed, each stalk cut into 4 pieces
2 tablespoons Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon salt

Preparation Directions:

1. Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with no stick cooking spray; set aside.

2. Brush both sides of bread slices with melted butter flavor shortening; cut bread into cubes

3. Place cubes in prepared baking dish. Place cubed ham on top of bread cubes. Place asparagus pieces on top of ham.

4. In a large bowl, mix remaining ingredients together. Pour mixture over the bread mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

5. Preheat oven to 350°F. Uncover strata; bake 60 minutes or until golden brown and puffy. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
