INGREDIENTS
1 loaf Challah bread
1/2 C. milk
4 eggs
2 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Saigon Cinnamon
1/2 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Nutmeg
1 tsp. Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract
2 Tbsp.
Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
1 C. brown sugar
1/2 C.
Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
, melted
1-2 apples, diced
2 Tbsp. syrup
DIRECTIONS
Slice the bread into large, thick slices.
In a large bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, spices and oil.
Soak the sliced bread in the milk mixture to fully coat each slice.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat on the stovetop.
Place soaked bread onto the skillet and cook each side until golden brown.
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and melted shortening to make the crumble.
Place cooked French toast on a plate, and top with crumble, apples, and syrup.
