1 1/2 C. shredded Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Swiss cheese
1/4 C. plain bread crumbs
3 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1/4 tsp. dried thyme leaves
4 crusty French rolls
DIRECTIONS
HEAT 2 Tbsp. oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms, onion and garlic. Cook and stir 5 minutes or until onions are soft. Remove from skillet and place into mixing bowl.
ADD beef, cheese, bread crumbs, milk, salt, pepper and thyme. Mix well. Form 4 ovals to match shape and size of rolls.
HEAT remaining 1 Tbsp. oil in skillet over medium-high heat. Add burgers. Cook 4 to 5 minutes. Turn with spatula. Cook an additional 4 to 5 minutes, or to desired doneness. Top with onions and mushrooms. Serve on rolls with favorite condiments.
