1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Using a bread knife make cuts about an inch apart from end to end without cutting all the way through the bread. Repeat this process and make the cuts perpendicular.
3. Pour melted shortening and pesto in between the cuts of bread. Then stuff the cuts with the shredded cheese.
4. Bake on a baking sheet for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted and bread is golden brown
