Caramel Apple Crumble French Toast

Ingredients
- 1 loaf Challah bread
- 1/2 C. milk
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Saigon Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Nutmeg
- 1 tsp. Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract
- 2 Tbsp. Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
- 1 C. brown sugar
- 1/2 C. Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening, melted
- 1-2 apples, diced
- 2 Tbsp. syrup
Directions
- Slice the bread into large, thick slices.
- In a large bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, spices and oil.
- Soak the sliced bread in the milk mixture to fully coat each slice.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat on the stovetop.
- Place soaked bread onto the skillet and cook each side until golden brown.
- In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and melted shortening to make the crumble.
- Place cooked French toast on a plate, and top with crumble, apples, and syrup.
