
Crispy Chicken Tenders

Serves 15-18 tenders
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. chicken tenderloins
- 1 quart buttermilk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 3/4 tsp. Spice Islands®️ Garlic Powder
- 3/4 tsp. Spice Islands®️ Paprika
- 2 cups Crisco®️ All-Vegetable Shortening
Directions
- PLACE chicken and buttermilk in a resealable bag and refrigerate (minimum 2 hours, maximum 12 hours).
- COMBINE flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika in a medium bowl.
- ADD chicken to flour mixture, 2-3 pieces at a time, turning to coat completely. Using tongs, dip in buttermilk to coat. Return to flour mixture, turning to coat completely. Let stand on wire rack while heating shortening.
- HEAT shortening in a 10-inch skillet to 350°F. Add a few pieces of chicken (do not overcrowd) and cook for 3 minutes. Turn chicken and cook an additional 2-3 minutes or until deep golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F. Drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining chicken.
